Safe and Drug Free Schools (SDFS)
Pioneer RESA has been approved by the Georgia Office of Highway Safety to receive a Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) grant in the amount of $40,000. The following schools and mountain education centers have been approved to receive this grant: Flowery Branch High, MEC Blairsville, MEC Dahlonega, Catalyst Christian Learning Center in White County, Rabun County High, Towns County High, West Hall High, Woody Gap School, Banks County High, East Hall High, Dawson County High, Hart County High, Habersham Central High, Stephens County High, MEC Ellijay, MEC Toccoa, Forsyth Central High, North Forsyth High, South Forsyth High, and West Forsyth High. The Pioneer RESA Comprehensive Health Education Program believes that having safe and drug-free schools is one of our nation's highest priorities. Our purpose is to implement and support programs that prevent violence in and around schools and to support strengthening programs that prevent the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs.
This program provides professional services to participating RESA systems that include:

The program assists local systems with the design and implementation of programs that meet state and local needs and support school improvement strategies. The programs primary goal is to achieve measurable results. To achieve positive results the Comprehensive Health Program will:

Base programs on a thorough assessment of objective data about the drug and violence problems in the schools and communities service. |

With the assistance of local or regional advisory council establish a set of measurable goals and objectives. |
 |
Design and implement its programs based of research that provide evidence of effectiveness. |
 |
Evaluate its programs periodically to assess its programs toward achieving its goals and objectives, and use its evaluation results to refine, improve, and strengthen its programs.
