Graduation/Dropout Prevention Program
This project is a major component of a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education. It is focused on improving graduation rates for students at risk and for students with disabilities. Participating schools will have trained leadership teams to analyze the priority needs for their own school and determine which research based strategies in dropout prevention will have the most impact on their school's graduation rate. North Georgia College & State University Announces A New Master of Education Degree in Early Childhood Education
The School of Education at North Georgia College & State University is offering an innovative Early Childhood Education Master Degree Program in Stephens County. This program involves the study of advanced assessment and curriculum for diverse learners. Optional international school visits will be provided as a base of comparison between the best practices in Georgia and those in another country. GPS updates to the curriculum

Georgia Textbook & Instructional Materials
Each year, textbooks in the state-funded courses for one or more subject areas are considered for recommendation by the Georgia Department of Education.  Each state recommendation becomes effective on January 1 of the following year.  For example, the 2007-2008 state recommendation in K-12 Science and 9-12 Mathematics will become effective on January 1, 2008.  Please review the Learning Resources Evaluation Site Posting to visit the materials for Science K-12 and Math 9-12 at various sites around the area through July 13th. GACE Testing
September 1, 2006, Georgia implemented the GACE series of educator assessments, newly aligned with state and national standards for educator preparation and with state standards for P-12 student curriculum (Georgia Performance Standards).

Making Achievement Gains In the Classroom (MAGIC)
The MAGIC consortium is a dynamic group of Georgia school systems who have pooled their resources and aimed for a common goal.  The goal of connecting all Georgia standards to pacing guides, lesson plans, video instruction, and assessment.  School districts all across Georgia are working collaboratively to connect our standards, toward the goal of improving student achievement.
