Conference

ISTE - NECC

The 21st Georgia Educational Technology Conference will be held November 5-7, 2008, at the Georgia International Convention Center.  Preconference workshops and the Technology Leadership Forum will begin on November 4.

GaETCSM is produced by the Georgia Educational Technology Consortium, Inc., with the cooperation of the Georgia Department of Education.

GaETC is dedicated to the professional development of educators. For two decades, the Conference has played a key role in helping educators at all levels increase their understanding of the role of technology in education. The Conference provides educators the opportunity to learn about the latest in educational technology and offers a forum for discussion among professionals concerned with technology in education. GaETC offers almost 250 concurrent sessions, nationally known speakers and presenters, workshops focusing on the latest in technological innovations and software, and over 200 commercial exhibits featuring state-of-the-art technology.

GaETC is open to any individuals interested in educational technology. There is no typical organizational structure, no membership dues, and no membership list. Those who have attended a recent conference or who have filled out our online form requesting information will receive the preliminary program, which will contain the workshop descriptions and a registration form, through the mail. The descriptions of concurrent sessions and workshops will be available in the conference program and on this website.

Testing

ISTE - NECC

The Paraprofessional Assessment is designed to enable individuals and school districts to satisfy state and federal No Child Left Behind requirements that call for "highly qualified paraprofessionals." These requirements indicate that paraprofessionals must meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through formal state or local assessment, knowledge of, and ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics; or knowledge of, and ability to assist in instructing, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.

The GACE Computer Skill Competency assessment is an Internet-based test (IBT) that is designed to enable individuals and school districts to satisfy the legislated computer competency requirement for educators. Registration and testing for this assessment is provided by authorized Georgia schools, school districts, Regional Educational Service Agencies (RESAs), and Educational Technology Training Centers (ETTCs). The Computer Skill Competency assessment is a single test that consists of selected-response questions.

Our graphing calculators are designed to engage your students and help them build their critical thinking and reasoning skills. With TI as your partner in education, you can prepare each of your students with a foundation for future success in school and in life.

How is graphing calculator use during Algebra 1 instruction related to improved student achievement?

  1. According to independent studies*, increased graphing calculator use during instruction resulted in higher test scores, even when students did not use graphing calculators during testing.
  2. The more access students have to graphing calculators and more frequent use during instruction, the higher their end-of-course test scores.
  3. Positively impacts student performance in algebra.

Student success soars with TI-Navigator
Designed to work with TI graphing calculators, the TI-Navigator system provides wireless communication between students' TI graphing calculators and the teacher's PC.

  1. Instantly view screen shots of all your students' work.
  2. Immediately gauge student comprehension and areas in need of reinforcement.
  3. Shows student results on assignments, quizzes and tests, so teachers know right away who's "got it".
